Ending Texting Torture

Earlier this week, the tug-of-war continued between AT&T email ads and morning texting torture on my archaic flip phone – for one so vane when it comes to my stylish heels, you would think I would have been flaunting a stylish smart phone years ago. . .

The only person more technology conservative than me is Brandon, my oldest!  On Tuesday morning, we celebrated his son Connor’s first birthday and Brandon’s promotion at work that will significantly challenge his chemical engineering skills – congratulations to both of my boys. . .  I caved when Brandon mentioned he recently purchased a Samsung-4.  My own Samsung purchase was completed early that afternoon – thank you Brandon and Alecia. . .

Although my AT&T store is only minutes from my home and design studio, I was compelled to purchase my new phone on-line.  Me, a technology purchase on-line?  Never!  Never!!  Precious Alecia, graciously endured most of an hour as she calmed my anxiety and concerns – If an Absolut and soda was her first inclination after work, I would not have blamed her.  She is an Angel. . .

I love angels, teased her playfully and suggested she end her day by exploring Christine Renae’s website. She did, and a most precious friendship was born!

Brookelyn and Alecia 2013-05-26

During the last few days, we have shared intimacies of the heart so private and personal that it has drawn us closer than we could ever have dreamed imaginable – in our hearts and in spirit, we share a connection that seems life long. She is a wonderful unexpected blessing.  Are we all not so called, often unexpected blessings when our hearts remain open?

Her daughter, Brookelyn Raye, turns five on Thursday the 27th – a precious young lady she has become.

Brookelyn responded to an email with these words, “ ’Mommy, was that lady talking about me??’ I proceeded to tell her yes!  She goes on and on about how you wrote to her, that she has a special friend, and got mail.”

As I can not celebrate her birthday with her, Brookelyn is being written into my new novel – Abigail’s, A Little Piece of Heaven. She will become the first pre-schooler Claire and Caleb invite to Abigail’s as the book and novelty shop become a heavenly place for young children. Happy Birthday and welcome Brookelyn!!!
